1. SIMPLE SADDLE ASSESSMENTS
You will be disturbed to know that only a few years ago every 2 in 10 saddles we checked were physically broken! -Of the remaining 8 saddles at least 2 were showing questionable tendencies!
Thats in and around 40-50% of saddles that we checked were either physically broken or questionable!
The main issues were worn and broken trees, twisted trees and severely worn or failed billets!
The main source of broken or defective saddles is the private used saddle market! - So please do be aware!
If you are unsure of your saddles soundness and would like it assessed then please ask for our assistance by completing the form at the bottom of the page. We can run some very quick and simple tests to judge if further investigation is required.
To have your saddle assessed on a basic level is €40.
2. GENERIC OR COMPLEX TACK AND SADDLE REPAIRS
There are many things that can go wrong with a horse riding saddle and the associated riding tack! From twisted and broken trees, rips and tears to simple strap and stitch replacements!
Some of these tasks are quantifiable for example our Full Saddle Re-Flocks, these quantifiable jobs are outlined below and example prices are provided, however some jobs are hugely variable that will need pricing on assessment! Please be aware that some repairs are either impractical or simply not possible!
Rest assured that we will always work in yours and your horses best interests! We will provide safe and highly professional repairs with no compromise on quality!
We make the process of receiving a quote for any given task easy, simply fill in the form below and provide us with clear and comprehensive images!
3. ADJUSTABLE SADDLE COMPONENTS & SERVICE ITEMS
An amazing aspect of the new modern adjustable saddles is the ease that certain components can be changed or replaced!
For example in the past knee or thigh blocks would have to be manipulated by a skilled saddler to have them altered!
Now, if a rider is using an adjustable saddle, they can very simply choose between a variety of knee or thigh blocks and add them to the saddle themselves, with no skills required and very cost effectively!
Similarly most adjustable saddles billets or girth straps are interchangeable leading to a easy and cost effective solution for any rider!
At Saddles Ireland we are recognised by our multitude of major brands as premium stockists and as such we are able to supply most service items through our sales systems!
You will find all service items and components specific to your adjustable saddles brand under the main heading 'BRAND CATALOGUES'!
4. BATES, ARENA & WINTEC, CAIR PANEL REPLACEMENTS
The Cair panels and cushions fitted in most Bates, Arena and Wintec saddles have revolutionised saddle development, saddle fitting and horse and rider comfort! At Saddles Ireland.com we are very fond of these developments.
Although rare, these panels can burst or slowly leak! There are 4 panels per saddle, two at the front two in the rear! The saddle will feel flat or lob sided when the cair panels are flat.
The panels are specific to each saddle model and size, they are not interchangeable between saddles.
It is possible to change just one Cair cushion, however we strongly recommend changing all 4 as a unit to keep the panels current, fresh and feeling like new!
The good news is the Cair cushions are relatively cheap to purchase, expect to pay in the region of just €15 each, with fitting a further €50!
5. SPOT FLOCKS, RE-BALANCING AND FLOCK TOP UPS
We do not top up, re-balance or spot flock old flock, this is a poor practice that leaves an uneven and inconsistent result!
There are only two instances when we spot flock, re-balance or top-up flock! Both instances are only related to the saddles sold through our services-
-
Through our Nationwide Master Saddle Fitting Consultations for customers that require our ongoing saddle maintenance programme.
-
As part of our Remote Flock Top Up Programme for all of our 'New saddles' that have settled and were purchased no longer than 6 months previously!
6. FULL SADDLE RE-FLOCKS
Our saddle re-flocks have long been regarded as exceptional, BUT, until now, rare!
Our Full Saddle Re-Flocks are total strip downs! We then re-build with new materials!

When we fully re-flock a saddle, we open the saddle completely, literally down to it's pattern shape!

We visually assess the tree and any internal components!

We strip and clean the old flock and line the panels with a specific combination of contoured and tapered foams!
We rebuild the saddle using new threads and materials where necessary!
We then flock the saddle using the finest Jacobs wool possible in most instances or synthetic flocking in certain scenarios! The nature of the flock depends on the nature of the saddle.
The re-flock itself is very carefully undertaken to fill all voids and to provide the smoothest consistency possible! The flock is placed, pushed and beaten to a supple yet supportive texture, a very skilled task!
Our re-flocked saddles are ultra soft, even and consistently pliable! Making it feel luxurious for you and soft for your horse!!
A full re-flock is €210 per saddle on average.
7. GIRTH STRAP REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS
Girth straps otherwise known as billets are amazing in reality! The amount of wear and tear they take in everyday use is immense!
To this end it is imperative to keep these ridiculously important components in tip top condition!
At Saddles Ireland we only use premium materials and leathers to ensure longevity of your repaired item!
We can provide numbered and un-numbered straps and match colours to a certain degree! The straps are made from strong yet supple high quality chrome leather!
It is possible to replace one or two straps at a time but we recommend replacing all of the most commonly used girth straps on your saddle at the same time!

The cost for one strap is in the region of €30 fitted. With discounts for multiples of replaced straps.
8. SADDLE REFURBISHMENT
Most people who know Saddles Ireland know that we don't do things by half's!

This same rule applies to our saddle refurbishments. A refurbishment could be as basic as giving it a good clean and polish or a refurbishment could also include a complete re-build.
We can strip down your saddle, check and replace it's internal components, re-build it using premium grade components, re-flock it using our time proven flocking system and surface prepare it for many more years of faithful work!
Full refurbishments are P.O.A due to the variable nature of the task and the saddle's genetics.
